    Fantom 29 rear susp. performance

    Greetings,

Got one of these for my girlfriend who's 98 pounds soaking wet. Rear suspension seems way overdamped - rides like a hardtail even with damping at minimum. Static sag is set at 25%.

Anyone else having a similar experience? Solutions?

hello, I don't have that bike , but I do have a Dawes Roundhouse 2000, I'm also in process of researching/hoping to upgrade the rear shock, I think that im going to upgrade the rear shock to a Fox RP23 or the Manitou shock, I believe that is the only way to fix this problem, coil is rated at 850 lbs?!!!! I also have my stock shock at the minimum and the bike developed a creak , had to tighten up to get rid of the annoying creak, hope this helps

They might be tuning the bike for a target maket segment closer to the average heavy American rather than the average bicyclist.

Try lower inflation pressure in the tires. Maybe switch to a taller higher volume tire with a high thread count carcass, softer sidewalls, and run tubeless at reduced inflation pressure.
