    That's funny seeing Moots jump into the 650B market because 18 months ago I called them seeking a 650B Ti hard tail. They said they wouldn't do one even if it was a full custom..............I guess they caved due to market pressure.

    Yeah I got the same response - they were so NOT into 650b it was a little bit of a turnoff. Sent me right over to Jim Kish.

    I was just going to pull this quote from the Rogue ad, but I see you already did. I vaguely remember another MTBR post where a member contacted moots wanting a 650b custom and they said it too much effort to retool and they weren't capable of doing it...maybe it was you? I dunno, but I too call BS

    Are they not allowed to change there mind if the market/trends start to change? Why does it make them releasing one now a joke or bs?

    To me, better late than never I suppose (not that I am in the market for a 650b).

    Thats insane. Moots HAS to get into the 650b market. They seriously need to make the new Divide a 650b. They probably have a majority of their Divide customers buying the MX Divide (29er) but I'd bet if they spec'd out the bike to fit 650b they would have more buying that. 26er I cant say but they seriously have to step into the 650b world more. Eriksen has an incredible F/S bike that is 650b campatible. It doesnt make sense that Moots wouldnt do this.

    If Moots refuses to go 650b whats stopping any of you from going to Kent? 2cents deposited

    I think it's a Moot point since they have gone 650B.

    Haven't seen many, if any, reviews on either the Rogue YBB or RSL.

    After an 11 month wait , I received my Steve Potts 29er 100mm sus. the beginning of Sept.

    Love the bike, rides like a dream! But after about 225 miles, I really feel I should've gone with the 650b. At 5'8" (158), even with the custom fit, my 3X a week climb up the 5 mile fire road that crests just under 3000' in the Verdugo Mtns. is negating the cross-training effect I use mtn biking for --running, which is my main sport.

    The 29er wheels , once you get them rolling, do move along nicely but in many stretches of my climb, the grade is 10-15%. I'm working much harder to push those bigger wheels up then I was with my fairly clunky '04 FS Ellsworth Truth. And in turn that leaves me with *dead legs* the next day or two for my normal 7-8 mile run.

    At age 61, I have enough working against me trying to stay running. So I don't need my cross-training tool contributing to the fatigue.

    So I think I'm going to use the Potts 29er mainly for the road..and light trail use cutting through parks. It really flies along on the road, even with the Fox 100mm locked out. And it actually has re-invigorated my desire to ride on the road.

    The way the traffic is around here, I don't feel safe, stable and agile enough on my road bike, and had basically quit riding it. The Potts excels on the road ! A Mercedes or BMW crossing over the line & coming at me at 50 MPH in a 25 MPH zone ? No problem jumping off the road or up on a curb.

    So, I am looking very closely at the Rogue for my trail bike. Unfortunately no demos at any of the dealers by me ...and none in the foreseeable future.

    I'd be curious to if the RSL would be a better climbing option and the YBB would just give me more cush and control coming down the steep, rutted/rocky fire road. Don't bomb downhill or race.

    Would appreciate any user feedback on either YBB or RSL Rogue model.

    I have an old YBB with 26 inch wheels, V brakes, and 80mm fork and it was a lovely machine for XC use (It has since been put out to pasture in favor of a 650b hardtail). I would assume that the well-established qualities of the YBB would carry through to the 650b variant just as they do in the other wheel sizes. You might also consider other ti bike makes such as Kent Eriksen (the former Moots owner) and Jim Kish.

    Hi Ron. Yes your Kish 650B is one of the nicest, drool worthy 27.5s I've seen a picture of on the net. I assume you're still really enjoying it.

    I am still highly considering Jim in addition to the Rogue, as I've spoken to him and have gotten a very good vibe.

    A large consideration with the Moots for me is the LBS/dealer support. Not that there's going to be anything *wrong* with any of these bikes from builders like Jim, Steve, Kent or a Moots. Not being a *bike guy* per se and definitely not considering myself skilled in the least with regard to mechanical issues- I feel better about any going into the store, where I spent some substantial $$$$, if any little tweaks or "dialing in " are needed. In addition to regular maintenance that I'm not qualified to do.

    Also the YBB, with that extra added cush, would be welcome considering the state of these fireroads and trails in general in LA and around Ca. Because of this extended drought we're experiencing, roads like dirt Mullohland in the Santa Monicas are as hard as a cement road. Throw in the ruts, and man while I'm going down these trails, I'm saying to myself..."you made a wise choice NOT going with the rigid fork (on the Potts) ".

    Oh hi Dave! Ha, I kust responded in a generic way without paying attention to who made the post! Yes, I am still loving that bike. I have a new Industry nine 'Torch' wheelset arriving today. I hope they have less drag than the one in that pic because that is... kind of a drag.

    That is an interesting comment about the support from a local shop. I have never thought about it explicitly, but I have tended to do all of my work myself, and shied away from parts that require a relationship with a shop. That's why I don't absolutely love hydraulic brakes... bleeding the damn things, what a pain! I'm not opposed to local shops, I just like being able to do everything myself. Maybe I'm using the saved cash to buy more musical instruments... looking at my walls here that seems like a plausible excuse.

    Have you ever been tempted by bikes like the Rocky Mountain Thunderbolt? That one looks very interesting to me. Of course, that bike would require more maintenance than a YBB, where the maintenance on the rear shock is virtually zero.
