    Hi everybody!

At first, please excuse my school English...

I acquired recently a schwinn moab of 2001.
But I have some difficulties with the headset.
Could anybody say to me if I can put another headset than Cane Creek ICBM on Moab of 2001 or is it impossible?

    Thanks

you are pretty much stuck with it. Aheadset company used to make them too but not any more. the joys of having an 11 year old bike google/craigs list hunting, ebay, might be your best best.

i ran some google searches and came up with a few online stores who have them advertised. you might want to contact them to see if they actually have one in stock though. just because the web says discontinued doesn't mean they don't have one

    - ICBM Headest - 1 1/8 [110-102-07] : • Milwaukee Bicycle Co. • Ben's Cycle

    - Aheadset ICBM Integrated Headset - $49.44 - Bike Parts 360
    - Campagnolo Integrated Headsets - $53.95 - Bike Parts 360

now post pictures of the bike!

It's possibly to have an adapter machined allowing you to run a regular headset in it. A user on here did it a while ago. If you search, you should be able to find the thread.

Do you know exactly what is wrong with the headset?

I read that this frame needed a specific headset.
I am afraid of buying a classic integrated one fot nothing.

Does the frame (bike) have worn out headset bearings? If so call Cane Creek at the number in my attachment.

Make sure that the headset races (where the bearings rest) in the frame are in good condition, are still round. The races in a Schwinn ICBM head tube can be damaged from a loose steerer tube, and usually cannot be repaired.

Please let us know what you find.

This is a second-hand frame and there is nothing of the headset.
The former owner left me the following references: Cane Creek ICBM HD 2188
I've found an online store in UK which sells this one.
I am going to contact Schwinn by mail to have more information.

    Thank you for your help

I have a package from new Cane Creek Bearing Cart ICBM 1 1/8 bearings with the part number HS2033 if that also helps.

DO NOT contact chinaschwinn. Just a waste of time.. call Cane Creek or AHeadset they are the one's who made the headsets, not schwinn

when I bought my Homegrown frame in '08 it didn't come with the icbm headset. The bike shop who built it had to custom order one through Aheadset. Both Aheadset and Cane Creek probably have them, you just have to call or have a local bike shop call to have one ordered
