    my 1998 mesa gsx beater

A friend of mine gave me the frame earlier this year, didnt have a clue what it was I just knew I wanted to ride it. So, I fished out some old parts, cleaned em up, bolted em on hey presto..............my daily ride. I love it.

I'd love to see your custom mount. Got any pictures? Also, Bangers weren't made in even sizes. They were 17 or 19, center of BB to top of seat tube. One way to tell between those two (if you know for sure it isn't a 21) is to measure the head tube. 90mm is a 17 (3.5"), 110mm is a 19 (a tick over 4.25").

You know, I really shouldn't, but I'm gonna. Pacific Schwinn... oh well. Seems to work ok for me. I'll upgrade as I break it. Already did the pedals and seatpost.

Well, I got my Al comp free, so I figured what the hell. The cost effectiveness doesn't bother me. I'd like to fix it up myself. Since I can get used parts for uber cheap/free. My uncle has a garage full of parts (he used to compete). I think I'll probably come out even, if not under what a decent lbs bike would cost. Plus I don't see anything wrong with the frame itself. I'm upgrading the derailleur tonight.

I built the Mesa for my daughter from a frame I found in the trash and parts I had in the garage. Except for a small dent in the head tube, the frame is straight, and it rides nicely. The build has parts spanning nearly 20 years, from 1989 to 2007. I don't know the year of the frame.

The second bike is my 1964 Schwinn cruiser, which I have been putting more miles on lately. I get all sorts of strange looks coming down a steep, technical single track on a bike with a coaster brake, clipless pedals, and a Mickey Mouse bell.

Nice dumpster dive there. Pretty cool old cruiser you got too. I always hate it when someone puts a bike out by the sidewalk. I never can tell if it's free or if some kid just forgot to put it up.

    1998 Schwinn S-10 Underground

Just picked this 1998 Schwinn S-10 up second hand not even a week ago. Stock almost everything, LX shifters, crank, XT derailleurs, mavic wheels (needs serious truing on the back one), avid brakes, rockshox front and back, even tires! After market carbon fiber riser bars, and new seatpost/saddle, since the original was cut very short, and poorly I might add. Too bad it's not a homegrown, but it's got the same frame geometry. So what if it's made of 7005 instead of 6061 aluminum. Not bad for 100 bucks! Cant wait to go riding old-school!

    My upgraded Target S-25

Not the greatest bike, but it got me hooked. Still ride it around the neighborhood, leave the trails for the Teocali.

7000 alloy is stronger and lighter than 6000 alloy. So that's even better for you!
