    Idea! Bass Boat Schwinn Homegrowns

Who has them...are they lost or hiding? I'm curious who has Bass Boat two tone Hardtail Homegrowns still spinning...or displayed? How many were made? Who's got the scoop?

Bass-boat blue, rare--even rarer are the bass-boat green.I have around 18kmiles on mine. Still love it four-forks later.

    Used mostly for commuting now

The Yeti-made-in-Durango Homegrown Hardtail. So old and dated.

I still see them around once in a while. They seem to have held up well.

They're not that old, but you could ask in the vintage forum. But put a thick skin on. It's overrun with a very vocal minority of narrow-minded, pretentious, condescending guys obsessed with pumping the value of their own collections and ridiculing everyone else, but there are still a few good people left on there who might help you out. The new moderator "bushpig" seems to be an improvement, even though the old one is still there. It might be worth a shot.

I still have my 1998. It was hard to get the new paint job, but the this bike was my "everything" bike and the paint showed. I think that I even took her on a few DH runs!

Here is my 99 Schwinn (Yeti) HG. The Yeti made HGs were only made in 97, 98 and 99 so if you do not have those years then you do not have a Yeti welded HG.

Man you got a good eye. I kind of cheated, I found two of these brand new (new in box), never used about 4 months ago. The guy had two of them so I got them both. They were both amazing, the paint and clear coat are awesome! Thanks

My boy Mtn.Biker123 (pick of his HG above in orange, man his bike is dope) had been telling me I need to pick up a Schwinn HG. Looked more at the bike and I had to agree with him so the search was on. So glad I listened to him, now I own two

This bike handles like a dream! Up, down, you name it the Schwinn HG says give me more with a smile

My buddy has a beat down bass boat blue Project Underground Homegrown... you know the thermoplastic one. Apparently these things are the rarest of the rare, something like 100 were made only in a smallish 19 size and only given to owners of shops that sold Schwinn.

But that doesn't stop him from racing xc, slalom, or dh on the beat. He rips too.

I've got a 17" blue one, like the back one above. I loved it for many years before deciding it was just too small. Sure was light though!

I was eyeing one at the Sports Recycler and a Scwhinn employee told me to stay away - fragile.

Fragile is an understatement with that frame. They should all be in the trash.

I seem to recall that prior to Yeti producing Schwinn frames, ControlTech made some for Schwinn. CT eventually ('96?) sold them under their own name, but only for a year or two. I still have mine in the basement. Am I remembering this correctly?

    Here's mine:

    Paul's derailleur

Real brake levers (used to be turquoise ano)

I also have a blue one, that had mostly blue ano on it. I took off many parts for other builds, as my girlfriend rides it now. It does have blue Caramba cranks on it however.

That looks like a single speed... what did you use to convert it ? Is that a standard King rear hub or SS ? Would love to know...
