    Cheq 40 - Chainring?

Wondering what chainring is appropriate for the Cheq 40 with a 1x10 setup on a 29er. Currently running a 32 tooth, but thinking of going to a 30 tooth, anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Steve

30x12 is an awefully low gear
36 might be more appropriate given your 36 out back.

Run a 36. Even up the worst hills you will have a 1:1 gear ratio and will spin up it. If you go smaller, come race day you will keep saying to yourself. I know I could have gone faster..

A buddy of mine did it last year on a SIR9 running 1x9 with a 38T chainring. I think you'll definitely want bigger than a 30. Remember that speeds on the first part will get up into the mid 20mph range unless you stay towards the back of the pack.

Also depends on how fast you plan on finishing. Last year, dry fast course, finish of 2:25 for me with a 1x9 (36t and 11x34). Two years ago, also fast course, finish 2:35 with 1x9 (34t 11x34). The increased gearing to the 36t got me towards the front on the initial rollout (also increased training). I plan on sticking with the 36t again this year.
