I live in Green Bay and ride 3-4 times a week, usually at the Reforestation Camp or Baird's Creek. Are there any good places to ride in Appleton or near there?

Me and the others from Schwag in Appleton usually ride mtb 3 times a week at the various trails within an hour's drive. And they are approving land in north Grand Chute for mtb trails, so soon we will have trails closer!

As far as Appleton goes, unfortunately all I can think of is this:

    (Bing map routed it)

Bing Maps - Driving Directions, Traffic and Road Conditions

Chain Reaction is small shop but the service is some of the best in the valley. There are some shops around here that I just don't go to anymore because I personally haven't been very impressed by them.

A friend and I usually leave from Schwag at 6 when we close, so unfortunately in spring and fall it is mostly night riding. Baird's Creek is 40 mins away, so that is the easiest option. There is a good chance of a 2nd mtb location opening near Appleton soon as well, View Ridge Park near New London.

I hope New London gets opened up. It's only a mile from my house and would be great. It's mostly all hillside.

Went to bar today before trying out the riverside trail. Got 2 chips for a beer... came back, only one in my pocket, where I also had my phone. Dammit! I wanted that beer!

I also live in Appleton but usually go to the camp (it helps that I work in Green Bay) or ride road. Occasionally I can get out to Bairds Creek at lunch time.

How close is UW Rippon from you guys? Rick Damm won a 25,000 dollar grant to build trail there last year. It may be an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something cool.

I grew up in Appleton, we used to find some fun singletrack here and there. Just poked around and found some singletrack to follow, just being kids. One trail I remember well was the trail that ran from Wisconsin Ave/Meade/Rankin street down the hill below the paper mill and followed the creek out to Peabody Park.
We also used to drive out to Plamann Park and ride too. Not sure if there's still trails there or not. Been about 20 years since I've lived there.
Just ride down there and jump off something for crying out loud...
