Advice on Levis Mounds (Levis Trow)

We are thinking of going up next Saturday morning, riding there in the PM then staying in a motel. Can anyone recommend a place to stay near by. Also, where is the best place to access the trails?

    Here you go.....!118& encType=1

That's the trailhead. Bathroom and shelter available.

Not sure about lodging.....Black River Falls isn't far away....lots of options there.

    Have you ridden Levis before?

    Recommended route:

Lower Glen - Swamp Cut - Yellow Jacket - Sidewinder - Upper Hermosa - Hermosa - Lower Hermosa - Dead Turkey - Select Cut - Warmup - Snodgrass

After that little jaunt grab some grub and get ready to head up to the top of the mounds. Recommend going up Northface and down Toad Road.

    Have Fun!!

The website advertises 160 miles of trails and fire roads, is that accurate and can I find a map online somewhere?

There is a PDF map link listed on the website you posted. It's a little bit old...there is a new trail called Sidewinder at the northern end of Yellowjacket that's worth it. Much exposure!

160 miles of trails and fireroads is probably accurate...many of the trails and fireroads around Clark County are populated by ATVs however. I'd stick to the singletrack shown on the map link. There are more current maps available at the trailhead too.

sbaryenbruch's recommendation is a great loop. I like to go up Toad Road and come down Cliffhanger though for access to the views on the mound. I was there on Friday and the fall colors are just starting.

    Perhaps another Fall riding option.

Levis is beautiful and if you are going to be in that area that is where you should ride. If you are just looking for an excellent Fall ride, check out the link below. Lodging is within minutes of the trail. Travel time is the same from Brookfield.
