    West Branch official open?

    Cheers, y'all.

I'm from Michigan, and currently on vacay, running thru Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, and ???

I'd LIKE to hit West Branch on the way back, if that would be advisable. It would be next weekend, the 17th thru the 19th. I'd seen suggested that the trails are officially closed until the third weekend of May, which should be next weekend.

Will the trails be officially open, and more importantly, are they likely to be in good riding shape, assuming no more major downpours?

    TIA.

Rumor has it that the trails opened early, as in yesterday. I'm heading out that way this afternoon to (hopefully) ride, and will post this afternoon to let folks know.

Great news! Please do report back with findings. I altered my plans to head East because of the rains that way. Not so much rock tech on the new route, so it would/will be a great way to finish at WB.

The mountain bike trail sign is switched over to "open" - so it looks like they're open. Little bit moist, with some puddles still hanging out, but overall not bad. A couple days rain free would make it much nicer.

Back again yesterday for a ride, so I've ridden most of the trails out there in the last couple of days.

There are a couple of trees still down. And there are also still a few muddy spots, but nothing new or unexpected.

Lakeside is a bit greasy still, and hitting those diagonal roots with wet tires certainly catches your attention. Gorgeside is pretty good, and Quarry is nearly perfect.

Noticed a couple of minor re-routes - thanks to the guys at CAMBA.

Looks like a rainy spell coming up. Get out and ride while the tread is solid.

In case anyone is thinking about riding WB and is wondering about the condition of the trail after the last two days of rain...

I went out there this evening for a quick ride, and hit all of the gorgeside trails and some of the lakeside. Tread is in amazingly good condition. Assuming that we're done with the rain for a couple of days, the trails should be in prime condition for the long holiday weekend.
