Here is a link to the Chicago Area Mountain Bikers (CAMBr.org) trail guide and Facebook sites. Raceway Woods in Carpentersville is just north of Elgin. CAMBr North just built a 1.1 mile sanctioned trail and is a nice ride. You can add miles by exploring the old race track.

Rock Cut State Park in Rockford is probably the closest trails of any length to Elgin. Hop on I-90 and head west for an hour. Try not to get lost on the north side of the lake. Good luck.

Palos Hills is about the same distance in the opposite direction, but often muddy this time of year.

EDIT: I forgot that Saw Wee Kee has grown a lot since I was last in the area. Knoch Knolls is pretty fun, but often muddy. The CAMBA site has the info.

    thank you very much.

me and my bud had second thoughts about bringing our bikes. did not want to be in trouble with our wives. they claim they are sick of us just talking about MTB since August

also, we were not sure if we'd come across trails that we are used to riding or how far away the trails are from where we are staying only to realize, that now that were here, that the trails are just close by.

well anyways we frequent this part of Illinois anyway, so next time we come, we definitely know to bring our bikes..

    thanks.
