If you are into freeride or DH, come out to Newark. There is a city park out here where we will ride. Nice trails for what we have to work with. We have a great shuttle road as well. Runs down are done in less than 2 min, but for the group of us that live within an hour of that place have a lot of fun there.

Check out both www.mtbohio.org and www.spokejunkies.com.

Depending on how far from Columbus you want to drive, and what you define as decent. The closest trails are probably Alum Creek up in Delaware. Other stuff to the south and west.

Mohican is about an hour and a half to the north along 71 too.

Advocate as if your ride depends on it...

Probably best way to see where the trails are.

I just did the loop at Mohican and it is a great well kept xc trail with some fun dh sections...it is long but worth it (24 mi.). it is about 18 miles from Mid Ohio race track...

Don't forget vultures knob. Best trail in Ohio IMO. They have something for everyone whether your a fr, xc, am, shore person. Great riding there, desently long dh sections that your rewarded with after not hard climbs just kind of long and drawn out grinding climbs.

if you are in Columbus Ohio looking for a mountain bike trail , head to Alum Creek. Theres a Phase 1 and Phase 2- both are approx 6 miles ( loop ), not too extreme.( depending on rider ). cool obsticles .. lots of fun entire trails are along the water and in the woods

+1 for Mohican State Park & Vulture's Knob. Both are great trails.
