BCSP Trail Weekends: Aug 8-9 and 22-23

HMBA is wrapping up the recreational trail grant that put BCSP on the Map. With Pine Loop, Walnut Trail, and Limekiln Trail Open, we just need to get the meanest trail in the midwest, Schooner Trace, opened.

So we are holding two big trail work weekends: August 8-9 and 22-23

Trail work will start at 10:00AM

In addition to trail building, there will be riding, food, beverages, stories by the campfire and if the NIMBA crew comes down, they may lead some snipe hunting.

For those who haven't experienced Brown County State Park, this is a great chance to see what the buzz is about. For those who have seen it, this is a chance to help make it even better.

Our Pro Trail builder, Alex Stewart will be leading some of the trail building efforts. And many of HMBA best trail builders will be there. So this is a great chance to meet us and learn about what it took to make BCSP and to find out what the future plans we have for BCSP and Indiana.

Check back here and on www.hmba.org for updates.

    BCSP Trail Weekend Update

We have Rally Camp site #4 for free camping for trail workers.

The staging location for the trail work activities will be at the Top of Hesitation Point at 10:00AM (both Sat and Sun). If you arrive late, you can still head to HP and we will send you out to one of the work locations.

Save some legs for an afternoon ride.

Check the info at this link for the details.

Just show up...that's all you have to do to get started. Be at the Hesitation Point parking lot starting at 10:00AM this Saturday and/or Sunday.

You will meet riders of all abilities and be a big help on the trails. Welcome aboard.

Sounds good. Is there an age limit on who attends, helps,or camps?

    Limitations

No age limits. If you are old or young enought to stand on two feet, we can put you to work. Camping is open to all comers. We have families, and many age groups. There will likely be camp fire stories that may venture into PG13 rated areas, and generally a bunch of mountain bikers eating, drinking, and making merry. But no one wants to be too hung over to ride the next day, so its not quite like a college party.

Hope that helps narrow it down for you.

Not that I ever noticed. Go ahead and register on the hmba.org site and ask anything you want. It's a friendly site and you will get more responses on BCSP questions and great trail condition info.

    BCSP Aug 21-23

We had a great turn out on Aug 8-9. With 12 to 15 volunteers each day, we made alot of progress on Schooner Trace and finished up the bridges on Pine Loop. The main focus on Schooner was to make a couple of the ravine crossings ridable (in theory), and to make the trail harder. We did this by putting more rocks on the trail and blocking off cheater lines.

This coming weekend should be even bigger. With no Dino Race and more of HMBA's Trail Building leadership coming, this should be a great weekend to spend at Brown County State Park.

In addition to getting alot of work done, this means more people to ride and camp with

We have lots of the usual trail building tasks lined up, Event coordinations, bech cutting, bridge building, etc... But we also will be putting alot of effort into Schooner Trace. This involves alot of rock work. So anyone interested in learning how to use rocks to add trail difficulty, should make there way to BCSP for the weekend.

We have Rally site #4 reserved for the weekend. Alex and I (Paul), will be there on Friday getting projects staged, so call in sick and make it a three day weekend.
