    2016 Olympics

    http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/local/432910

For road cycling I think the course could be tough as nails. A pretty grueling onslaught of neverending, steep, short, roller-coaster hills. Blue Mound State Park is probably the prettiest finishing area in the Midwest. Love it.

Bringing the MTB races to the Madison area is awesome as well. I can't say I'm completely thrilled about Tyrol. There hasn't been active trails there since a collegiate race about 9 years ago. My only hope is that is Chicago's bid is accepted and Tyrol hosts the MTB race that a trail network is established and remains open to the public. The last thing I want to see is another "race day only" venue.

Would have been cool to have road cycling and mountain biking at Blue Mound.....

I wonder how far of outside of Chicago they would be willing to host events. Brown County, IN is about 4 hrs. That would get us hoosiers on the map for biking. There's also the natatorium and a large velodrome in Indy.

I think it's a perfect idea. Blue mounds has some amazing road and mountain biking. I would love to see The state park host a XC MTB Race; mainly because they would overhaul the trail like all hell, but also bring more publicity to probably the nicest XC trail in the midwest.

+1 Even though I'm selfish and wouldn't like to see that many people at Brown County, having the Olympics hosted there would be great.

Let's leave the Hoosier's alone and focus on Chicago 2016's announcement about Wisconsin!

Hopefully, if this goes through, it will be impetus for Tyrol Basin to develop world class race trails that are open to the public full-time during riding season!!!

Chicago plans to build a new pool near UIC and a new velodrome.

The MTB venue would be great at Tyrol. As for the Road events, I train on those roads all the time. Until the locals get their attitudes straightened out I don't wan them to be rewarded.

Authorities speculate that speed may have been a factor. They are also holding gravity and inertia for questioning.
