2014 Palos Meltdown - July 20th
Don’t miss Illinois’s largest mountain bike event. With on-site camping, a midway with concessions and vendors, racing for all ages and abilities (including a Kid’s Race and a $1,500 Expert Purse), the Meltdown draws riders from all over the region. The race is held on the Palos Forest Preserve's extensive singletrack trail system just half an hour outside of Chicago. The trails are fun, fast and flowy, with plenty of hills and some multi-track thrown in to separate the pack. Camping is available Saturday night. Local riders will be leading groups to explore the singletrack late Saturday afternoon. The 2014 Palos Meltdown is a USAC and Illinois Homegrown Series Race.

Brown County Epic-Mountain Bike Festival October 10-12
Hoosier Mountain Bike Association (HMBA) announces a new Mountain Bike Festival (Oct. 10-12, 2014), called the Brown County Epic, in place of the Brown County Breakdown. The Brown County Epic will be a mountain bike festival and Epic Ride (up to 100 miles) within Brown County State Park and Yellowwood State Forest. The festival will include camping Fri-Sat night at the start/finish area, music, beer, food, games, great prize raffles, product and bike demos on Saturday, and an Epic Ride in the woods on Sunday, with 100, 75, 50, and 25-mile routes, with no repeating loops.
HMBA felt it best to move forward with a new name given we are moving in a new direction this year. We want to thank all the volunteers and participants over the last 9 years that have supported the Breakdown, and a special thanks to Sub 9 Productions for their dedication and support. We hope you will continue to support the Brown County Epic, which will continue to be the largest fundraising event for HMBA and trails in Indiana. HMBA has also received much feedback of the growing cost of the event and we have dropped the price this year, as well as offering a $50 Sunday Ride Only option for HMBA members. We hope you will join us for this Epic Event and Fundraiser.
Online Registration opens August 8th. Registration Website: https://www.bikereg.com/brown-county-epic
