Snowcross Is Back! Looking for some bike racing while you wait for the Spring Thaw? Versluis Orchards and Farm Team Racing are bringing back Snowcross for 2011. The second race of the year is February 19, 2011.

What it is!
Expect a fun and challenging cyclocross style course through the Versluis farm, a century old stone fruit and berry farm situated between downtown Grand Rapids and Standale, Michigan. The course will be rideable for beginners but will also offer challenging twist, turns and obstacles for expert riders. Be ready for quintesential Michigan weather. Cold, wet, freezing temps... everything that makes snowcross what it is. Racers will do a predefined number of laps on the course. First one to complete their laps wins. This is a keep it simple styled race. No fancy timing chips. No licenses required. No expensive entry fees either.

Racer Perks!
After the race there will be free hot dogs and brats for everyone!!! Enjoy food and a warm fire in the versluis "barn."

We have a new race sponsor this year, Kenda Tires. We'll be giving out Kenda Tires as prizes for top finishers in both the A and B categories, as well as for the top women finisher.

Stuff You Should Know!

Parking is limited, so plan on carpooling if possible.

The weather is unpredicable, dress accordingly.

You are responsible for counting your own laps!

We advise racing your cyclocross bike. But a mountain bike will do just fine. If you have a snowbike, that'll do too.

We cannot guarantee you'll enjoy snowcross. But we'll enjoy having your there!

A Racers and B racers will start at least one minute apart and share the course during their respected races.

Common sense race rules apply. If you have to ask what common sense is you probably shouldn't do this race. No course cutting. No fighting. No complaining about the snow or cold. All disputes will be settled by Farmer Nate in accordance with his will and wishes. After all, it's his farm and what he says goes!

NO REFUNDS! Because our entry fees are low we cannnot afford to grant refunds to those who register but do not show up for the race. Likewise there is a risk of blizzard conditions in Michigan during the months of January and February. In the event of weather so severe that we might fear for the safety of all involved, we may be forced to cancel the race. In that rare event there will also be no refunds, although we will do everything in our power to schedule an alternate race date or at least another time for registered riders to stop on by the farm and enjoy those free hot dogs! No hotdogs will go to waste.

Registration Deadlines and Rider Cap!!
This year we are offering early bird pricing. During these hard times we want you to have value for your money. Register online before February 1st and pay only $15 (plus reg fee). After January ends the entry fee goes up to $20. Once we hit a total of 100 riders registration will close. Day of registration will only take place if less than 100 people pre registered by February 17.

All riders (pre registered or day of) must sign in at least 15 minutes before race start time.

When and Where?
February 19 is the date. Registration opens at 10am. "A" racers will start at 12:00 noon. "B" racers will start at 12:01. Race duration and course length will be determined on race day based on weather conditions. Expect the A Race to last 40min to an Hour and the B Race to last 30-45min. While this is a cyclocross race, mountain bikes are welcome and may be advised if the snow is deep.
