    Crust riding in da UP

Last weekend in the north western UP was the most amazing crust riding I've experienced.
I'm talking about riding on the snow, anywhere, through the woods, no need for roads or trails. I rode for four days in a row, friday through monday. If pavement is a 10 and deep dry sand is a 1, the conditions were mostly 8 and 9 on logging roads and about an 7 to 8 in the woods. I got to do some exploring that I just can't do any other time on a bike because I could just take off through the woods and look for connections to different logging and skid roads.
Now it's getting too warm and soft.

Took the kids on a five mile crust-hike on the weekend, from Munising out towards Perch Lake. It was fun.
