    Arkansas Summer Trip

Hey all. We're planning a 2-3 week road trip to Arkanas this coming July and were wondering where you guys recommend staying. We're bringing our bikes to hit up the local trails. We're a mixed bag of abilities (40yo novices to 8yo beginners) and are looking for an area with trails that range from beginner to intermediate. We'd love to spend some time in the Hot Springs area to soak our sore legs and would love a variety of things to do. A friend mentioned Crater of Diamonds Park and the nearby Caddo mounds for arrowhead hunting. Any advice would be much appreciated.

the two most highly regarded trail systems are:

    1. Syllamo - there's a good mix of trails here http://www.syllamosrevenge.com/Trail/trail.html
and there is camping on site. http://www.mtbark.com/index.php?opti...=97&Itemid=237

    2. the Womble and parts of the Ouachita Trail - in my opinion the Womble and Ouachita are the best trails in the state but both have sections that are challenging and not trails that i would take an 8yo on. http://www.mtbark.com/mtbark/Arkansa...wombletopo.pdf

    other options:
    3. LOVIT - great for beginner and intermdiates, near Hot Springs and the Womble: http://www.mtbark.com/index.php?opti...=85&Itemid=201

    4. Cedar Glades: also in hot springs http://www.mtbark.com/index.php?opti...=75&Itemid=192

you can look here for other places to ride: www.mtbark.com. little rock also has great riding with camp robinson, boyle park, burns park and the jackfork trail.

the true gems of the state are the womble and syllamo but they might not be the best choices for true beginners or little kids.

There are numerous places to take the little guys now. Look for Mt bikes and root beer here. this is just beside the Big Dam Bridge, which is worth a pedal up too.

I'm taking my boys camping at Lake Ouachita tomorrow. We will ride Vista. Mostly on the section from Parking 2 through the Eagle point. If I had time, I'd take them to the Womble at 298. There's a 2-3 mile out and back there too.

Let me know when you're here, maybe the boys could ride together some.
