In Traverse City for the weekend... worth bringing the bike?

I'm heading to Traverse City with my wife to visit her family for the 4th of July weekend. I'm getting ready for Leadville in less then 2 months now, so I need to get some serious miles in. I'm bringing my road bike, but I'm wondering if there's any fun singletrack to ride where I can get some miles and smiles in, instead of just pounding the pavement. Should I bring the MTB too?

    I have a car. I made a choice. I ride my bike.

yeah, grab a bike...i'm not super familiar with the TC area, but i know south of there, there's a nice assortment of horse trails and the like. take your bike, don't be afraid of dodging down some gravel roads in your car and spotting for trails...unless of course, they're marked "NO TRESPASSING"

    North Country Trail is nearby.
Marilla Road trailhead is just a little north of Mesick.
It is well worth the drive.
If you need directions PM me.
If you are this close you really need to ride this.
MUCH better than boringly flat VASA.
