Here are two simple vids that kinda gives you an idea of the ones I goto. I'm not sure you level, but I'm a noob(almost two year noob)..

Trails of Michigan, Maybury State Park Mountain Biking Trail - YouTube

I'd be happy to show you the local trails in SE Michigan, if it's not during the first two weeks of September as I'll be out of town. My business is near Farmington Hills and there are about 8 different trails within a half hour. I've ridden all of them numerous times and would be happy to show you around.

And I'd enjoy hearing about Costa Rica over beers after.....especially the fishing

You can rent bikes at Trail's Edge Cyclery in Milford, which is near Farmington Hills. I also have a spare Felt hardtail(large) that you're more than welcome to ride.

That would be Holdridge in Holly. Grubers (East trail) is 15 miles of a bit more technical for Michigan, while the West side is 6 miles of fast flowing singletrack. It's about a 45 minute drive from Farmington Hills.
