I'm looking for a shop to get me set up with my first bike the right way. So I would be looking for the works I guess.

I live in Ann Arbor, so can't give any specific shop recommendations in your area, but you may want to also ask on the MMBA forums. It is much smaller than MTBR, but it is a great place to discuss local issues (trails, shops, etc).

    Good luck!

Ray's has just opened a shop in Baycity this summer.
They also have their shops in Midland and Clare.
The owner rocks! and is very supportive of the local MTB scene.

Cool. Thanks guys. I'll take a ride up there tomorrow to see what they recommend. Kind of wanting to stay around $600 for my first bike so hopefully they can help me out without blowing my budget completely lol.
