Map thread is a great idea. Put one up and I'll sticky it.

As for Spanish, some do post in Spanish. I personally feel that this board is a showcase for others to see what's going on here in Mexico, so it's nice not to totally alienate estranjeros who don't speak spanish. This is kind of a double-edged sword though, and some will be put off by the fact it's mostly in English.

Bottom line is, some of us who are MTBR regulars were asking for a while for a Mexico board and Francis graciously gave us a lovely Christmas present. I think he may have been delirious with the flu! I feel the board has been a great success already, and I've had the fortune to meet and ride with some of the regulars here. It would be wonderful if people read threads here and decide to come ride in Mexico because of it. There may be other local forums out there, but MTBR has global exposure and is an english language site.

I don't think it's set in stone, and as the board grows, maybe it will change. How do others feel about this? It seems that those that post here are generally people who visit MTBR anyway and read the other areas of the forum which are all in English

PS, my spanish sucks, so I'm probably the worst person to answer this!

my opinion is that this hould emain as an english spoken forum, because it started as one.
Maybe we can add a translation of our threads like:

Hello im from mazatlan and i ride a kona what do you ride?
    .................................................. ..............................

Hola soy d Mazatklan y tengo una Kona Que bicicleta tienen ustedes?

But frankly i believe that would be "mucha hueva"!

I think that map sharing is a good idea, but I don't know how practical it would be. Do you mean like GPS information that one could load into a GPS?

    http://www.bicimapas.com.mx/

Has a lot of info. on trails in Mexico. But sometimes we do know one or two trails appart from the rest.

I didnt mention the map thing, cause im a techno dumb kind of guy... i dont know about GPS and i hardly know how to use the paint program.
    Sorry about that guys.
But if written directions helped i could post directions on how to get to the different trails in Mazatlan. And other people copuld do likewhise.... When i went on a bike tour to the center of mexico i went to diferent trails with that kind of directions... it helped gwttig your ass on the trail but once in it there were ome that you got lost right away...not to be negative but sometimes that just wouldnt help unless its pretty well marked up.
