Hi there, sorry for the late reply, I did not know you could send messages on this web site! I just posted a review of my bike which gives a good run down (I think). My objective when I bought it was to get a full suspension 29er under 13kg and I wanted more than just a pure cross country. I was actually all set to buy a Kona Satori when by chance I wandered into a local bike shop which had just moved into a new industrial/consumer estate and there was the carbon stumper. there was not much difference in the geometry of the two bikes but weight wise there was about 1.5kg.
If weight is important go the carbon, if not then go the alu. I have racked up quite a few km in the past 3 months and had a few spills along the way (nothing dramatic) and have had zero issues with the performance of the bike. If I had unlimited funds then I would have bought the S-Works model for the 100% carbon frame - note that the rear triangle on the carbon comp is alu. Good luck.
