Thanks man. I just got things going with the Type II yesterday, so I haven't had a proper offroad ride with them yet. I did have a Salsa Cro-moto on for the last couple months and that fork rides wonderfully. I expect the Type II to be a little bit stiffer.
Over the summer I had the chance to do the same ride in Marin with the Manitou r7s and the Salsa fork, and honestly they were both super fun. The Manitou definitely lets me go a little faster, be a little less careful, and end up less battered after a ride-- I certainly appreciate suspension. For aesthetics and simplicity and weight I really like rigid bikes too--all my other rides are. Fat tires help
