EB, Herring Creek road above Strawberry has good camp spots a few miles from the the highway. If you take dirt road 4N27 there are good spots at the end. There are trails accessed up Herring Creek road, but if you ride to Strawberry, you have to climb back up at the end of the ride. Closer to Pinecrest/Strawberry, if you go down highway 108 about 100 yards past the Pinecrest turnoff, find an unmarked dirt road on the left, go just a little ways, take the left fork 100 yards to a big open area. Nothing special, but convenient. Up Dodge Ridge Road, if you take a paved road to the right just below the ski area, then the first dirt road to the left, there is a quiet spot back there. That spot is closer to some other trails If it's cold, you might want to camp on a ridge. A few hundred yards before Herring Creek road on HWY 108 is a dirt road to the left. Might find camp spots along that long ridge. Anyway, you can camp anywhere you want, outside the immediate Pinecret area.
