Thanks for weighing in on my post in 650b forum! Really appreciate your opinion and efforts to see 650b come into fruition in a big way.

    Morph,

The P35 is a Velocity product that I happened to design for them. Not sure where it went... Though, I never saw the need for a 35mm rim. When I was working on that design, I wanted to make it a 32mm rim, but they wanted to compete with the Salsa Gordo.

    Kirk,

I only found something about a 2007 Enduro. However, is there something you can reccomend as the max. tyre dimension with the Fox 36 Talas?

    Boris,

I am sure someone has done this on MTBR, but I don't remember the model / year Specialized. I will see if I can find the thread...

I can tell you that all Fox forks seem to work just fine, though they (FOX) do not recommend it.

    Hi Kirk,

Since your reputation is to be Mr. 650B I have some hope that you might help me to get an answer on my question. I am recently building up a bike based on a new 2010 Specialized Enduro S-Works frame with Fox 36 Talas. I want to go for 650 B wheels, but can not find any experiences on capability posted in the web. The frame is supposed to be cabable for 26" rims up to 2.4. Do you have by coincidents experiences with the compatibility of my frame/fork with 650B wheeels? Unfortunately even at Specialized here in Europe they do not know!

    Cheers from Germany,
    Boris

    phoenix,

You might try a 650b FireXC Pro. I know it has a small casing and is the smallest of all 650b tires.
I am doubtful that I will produce such a small tire anytime soon.

You might try These: SUOMI TYRES

Available here: Studded Bicycle Tires - about 1/2 way down the page.

    Hi Kirk.

I know that most people probably aren't asking for 1.8" 650b mtb tires but I need one. Such a thing is not made. Do you happen to know of any 'old school' 650b mtb tires from the early 80's with a narrow casing but decent knobs ? I seem to remember a Diamond Back with 650b wheels from that era. Would it be at all possible to get a small number of 1.8" tires ? If not is feasable to manufacture/modify a tire at home ?

I am running 650b wheels on my 1993 Kona Explosif. The Neo-Moto 2.3 fits in the fork just fine. However I have tried a Quasi-Moto 2.0 in the rear triangle but it didn't fit so instead I trimmed the side knobs off of a Nevegal 2.1.

    DWT,

As a general rule, I think this is a totally bogus concept. Tires are designed to roll in one direction and brake in another, you compromise both when running them backward imo. Whatever gains in traction you achieve by putting the rear tire on backward, you pay for in greater rolling resistance, and reduced braking performance. This is my opinion...ymmv.

I'm running Neo 2.1's front and rear. Back in the day the custom was to put the rear tire of an identcal pair on backwards (theory was for traction) which I did with the Neos. Is this good, bad idea or doesn't matter? Thanks much!

    Hi Kirk,

How many rear hub freewheel engagement points does the Ringle hub have in these you have listed:
P35 Wheel set - Sun Hubs

I'm very interested. I'll buy them if they are 32 points or more. Unfortunately, any less is too slow and can be more dangerous for my uses. :)

    Skush,

Those were silver soldered on... any good builder can re-attach it in 15 minutes.

    Hey Kirk,
I am looking for some guidance on reparing my Bontrager Road Lite and I understand you know a few things about how these frames were constructed. Here's the problem - The left (front) cable stop/shifter mount popped off of the downtube. Were these welded or brazed on back in the day? It seems like it popped off very cleanly leading me to believe that it was epoxied on or something. I have seen frames that have these mounts with a pin/rod running through the downtube to secure them. Please help!!!

    Thank you in advance,
    Steve
