    Duc32 on a short headtube....advice needed.

Just bought some duc32s with a view to converting them to 29er and putting them on my Krampus.
However, the headtube & headset come to a tiny 110mm, and according to the Maverick docs the minimum you can fit it to is 130mm.
Does anyone know a way around this?
    Cheers, Tom

i remember someone else mounted the DUC32 onto a small klein palamino (90mm head tube), so i guess it's 'just' a case of getting the 'right' spacer above or below the headtube and perhaps also a longer bolt to fix the stem ...

Depending on application: You can do it safely by adding either the "Externalizer" from RWC/Enduro Seals:

Or piece together a CaneCreek setup using their (depending on ID/OD) lower cups + special matching race to raise up the stack height. That's what I did.

Just adding spacers is a little dangerous.

Sorted, with a bit of machining and fettling

So I had to machine up an extension to the steerer nut. It was a tight fit (I knurled it) and it was epoxied in place. So far it seems pretty sturdy. But in future I may machine and tap a longer one piece steerer nut.

I then checked to see how much I had to reduce the travel by to make sure the tyre cleared the crown. The standard Maverick travel reducers are 35mm long, but I machined up some 48mm long to take into account the larger tyre diameter.

The fork had come with a 26" wheel on a Maverick hub, but luckily my existing wheel has a Hope Pro2 hub, and they do a Maverick axle. Having read on here of some problems people have had as the finish on it is smooth, I knurled the ends of the axle - a solution suggested by an ex-Maverick employee.

Here are some pics of the bike built up. I've been out for a couple of rides so far, and it's working great

    Loads of room....

And with my mates Karate Monkey for comparison....
