    Buying a Maverick in 2013

    Hi guys,
My name is André and I am from Portugal.
A couple days ago went to a local bike store wich was authorized dealer of Maverick.
They have about 3-5 used ones there (some already "made" and others in bits: mainly ML7's with SUC32, DUC32 and one with a manitou minute).
I immediately fell in love with the bikes and I thinking about purchasing ones, but I have some questions/doubts:

    1- What to choose?DUC32?SUC32?Manitou minute?
My bike now is a BH Coronas Deore from 99/2000 with a Jett on front and I want something more for free ride/enduro.
I worried about service and parts on the Maverick Suspensions (I know there is Ethan here).
And the stem on the DUC32 are there alternatives? If the one that comes with the bike/suspension is not my size?

2 - On that store I guess there is:
Klein Palomino (I guess it has the upgrade kit from maverick (At least near the rear suspension it has the Maverick logo)
    Ml7
    Ml8

What do I choose if the price is +- the same, what is the best bet? ml8?

3 - Is there anything that require special atention/parts/service on the maverick that only "specialized" guys can do, or the "ordinary" bike mechanics can do?

The front derailleur seems special to me...

Thanks for your support, hope to post my maverick here soon

    ML8, /thread.

Palomino isn't worth it, 80mm of travel doesn't cut it for Endruo/FR.

    Hi Andre,
I do service for Maverick stuffs for owners in Europe and already have someones in Portugal. I'm regularly in contact with Ethan for parts and upgrades.
Then, if ever you need any advices, recommendations and parts / service, do not hesitate to contact me :

    alpatech@free.fr

Enjoy your future Maverick. I do recommend a DUC 32 with a multi position stem (Ethan has stock). I could service your fork with all the new parts developed by Ethan and make it better than a Fox !!!
ML7 or ML8, it depends of your practice. ML8 is a all around, Enduro bike, ML7 is a pure XC bike.
Don't worry about the FD ..

Thanks a lot, I got your mail saved =)
What would be a +- price for servicing a DUC32 and make it fine + shipping to Portugal?
And what is that multi position stem, could you post a pic?
As soon as I have news I will post here.
    Thanks all of you

Have to disagree with that Alpa, I ran a 140mm fork on my ML7 and it rided better than with 100.

Re: Buying a Maverick in 2013

I have been in the store today. There are several frames ml7, an ml8 (seems to be missing some bits from the back (I can take pics), a durance and another model that just says M bits. The durance is better right?
I will be working here and will trade my services for a bike. So if anyone needs anything pm me

The multi position stem, Maverick stem is the adjustable one MAVERICK - Products
It depends what you want for you fork. Standard service, changing main Oring and Wiper Seals is around 110€ + shipping.
IFP and new shims for better sensitivity is 50€.

Regarding the ML7: Mine has a SC32 125mm that is perfect, but the "long" top tube and the angle (particularly the seat tube) remains more adapted for XC than the Durance or the ML8 ...

Well right now I am working at this store, and guess what I found:
    A brand new ML8
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/wsm7n61gsg...2011.24.21.jpg

There are some parts missing...but since there are several ML7 and Durance frames here guess I can swap them right?
One part that was missing was this one:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/01r0zn4srj...2014.43.47.jpg

I found this one, it seems the same size of ML7 and the Durance ones, will it fit the ML8?
If anyone wants to buy busted DUC32 or SUC32 drop me an email andrepsfaria at gmail dot com
I will keep you guys posted

Yes it will work. It is the Monolink and it works all the Maverick frames. You will need to get the frame bushings, pins and bolts to put it all together. The shock damper and lubrication need to be installed into the rear triangle.

    MAVERICK - Manual PDFs

Can you pm me or post some pictures of the duc forks. What is wrong with them?

You are almost right, I have 9 (But I have a quite a few bikes too, and I dont use fox).
I frequently rebuilt, retune and interchange the air and damper tubes on the various forks that are on bikes. (those blasted O-Rings need frequent replacement)
No I don't need anymore but I have friends that do. Anyone that rides a well tuned Duc wants one!
Please sell them to ragetty (He is the #1 MTBR Maverick postster). You are both in Europe so it makes it easier.
I also have 2 spare SCs. 1 brand new and one used but rebuilt for 190lbs rider.
I only ride 140-160mm bikes so I don't use them.

Thanks,I already saved all maverick pdfs in my dropbox. The part that "fix" the shock into the triangle is missing, but I can take one from the other frames.
The DUC32 is only missing the crown I guess, but I've found about 3 ou 4 crowns + stems.
To see how big the store is and the amount of stuff that they have (and to understand how things like maverick are getting dust there) see their facebook https://www.facebook.com/btterra.lda

We have 2 SC32, one damaged:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/3laohoyoau...2011.37.22.jpg

And the other is complete and in good shape.
About the DUC32, this one misses the crown (as I said I have more crowns and stems):
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/3lyr46ub0e...2011.35.08.jpg

The are more 2 or 3 DUC32, guess they are fine, or at least they work and they don't leak.

    Nice to see kindness here.
I am collecting all maverick stuff I can find in the store, some will go to ebay or sold here, but some I will save for me (hubs for example)
Here is a pic of one of the various frames that we have:
    https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...58994369_n.jpg

missing there are 2 durance frames and another klein palomino.

    Now about "my" Ml8.
I am thinking about buying new bearings for everything:
    wheels: 6805 2RS bearings
frame: ? saw somewhere 6001-2RSH SKF, is this true?how many?
    Any bearing missing?
The "bolts" are missing, in case I need one where can I get it?

I am not in a rush.
This bits have been there getting dust for some time.
Now when I have time I will clean them and ask the mechanics to see if they are good or not.
If they are good I will put it on ebay, if not I will put it too and state as for spare parts.or maybe save them for me and try to have them fixed.
Don't you know about the bearings?

@voob: ahh, well in that case, i can let you have these direct - they need a few bits and pieces, but they are effectively 'roadworthy'.

    pm me if interested ...

Well guys the building is starting:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/rxx6b4ue08...2019.35.47.jpg

This is what I have now:
Maverick ML8 Frame - all new, new FPI bearings.
Derailleur: I have two options: one that says Shimano 105 Triple and another that says Ultegra Triple, both are in good shape, what do I choose?Ultegra?I can post pics
    Cassette: 10s SLX
    Shifters: SLX
    Rear Deraileur: XT 10s
Now I am facing a dilema, I must choose a crankset, I have two options:

FSA K-Force Light 40T 29T (running on a FSA Ceramic BB)
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/hpxdf031oa...2016.41.47.jpg

Or Race Face Deus XC ,used, picked up from an ML8

I never had 2 speed crankset and the "speeds" seem to be quite high..

Saddle: Selle Italia Flite "test saddle"
Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow Saddle // 130mm Yellow Test Road Mountain Race Light | eBay

or Selle Italia yutaak test saddle

    http://www.gottaridebikes.com/Mercha...utaak_gell.jpg

    Seatpost: FRM Scandium
    1 x FRM Scandium 400x30,9mm (ST-M10 TI 400) Seatpost / Sattelstütze | B.O.R - Germany

Handlebar: Race Face Next SL Carbon flite2009

Front Wheel: maverick hub, mavic xm819, specialized pro 2.0
Rear Wheel: hope hub, mavic xm819, specialized fast trak lk 2.0
    Brakes: Hope
    Suspension: DUC32

    What you do guys think?

29T seems to be too tall for climbing anything unless you use a General Lee adapter for the rear cassette. What cassette are going to use?

First Look: General Lee Wide-Range Cassette Adapter - Pinkbike

A dropper seatpost would also be a good idea.

    Hi Skinnie,
I will be moving to Portugal later this year and bringing my ML7.5. It's been a great bike. I'm running an SC32 but have been interested in moving to a DUC. Does the store still have one?

    Thanks for the opinion.
I've found another crankset, a Race Face Next Sl, equal to this one:
    http://files.myopera.com/badmadcycli...ceNextTi09.jpg

Since the plates aren't ok it will get new ones (maybe shimano since it's cheaper).
The saddle will be an SMP Hybrid.

No, it's on Leiria. But in early September I must go to Aveiro (I studied there) and I can transport it to there. Or the store can send you via postal
