MBAS at Leominster State Forest is coming up Sunday September 1st

This is a good opportunity to check out LSF for the first time, or to see what's new if you haven't been here lately. Regular riders should will find that the planned routes provide a new twist on the olde favourites.

Is there anyone from Boston/Cambridge/Somerville driving out there? I'm looking to hitch a ride, and am willing to cover your gas.

If no one offers up a ride, the Fitchburg commuter rail stop is 5 miles away and will get you there in time for lunch. I'm not sure how accessible it is on your end though.

Yeah, I would normally do that however on the weekends the Fitchburg only goes to South Acton this year thanks to work on the trails.

Start of day Sat 8/31/13 until end of day Mon 9/2/13

Yep. Decent sized pond with a sand beach that is great for little kids. Picnic tables, charcoal grills and running water bathrooms. I believe there may be showers too if I remember correctly. Decent spot for rock climbing across the street too. Definitely a good spot to bring the whole family.

Yes there is swimming at the beach. There are changing and rest rooms as well.

The core intermediate loop is 12 miles, mix of terrain, with some climbing. Incorporating all of the Hero/Bonus loops can get you to 20 miles with more climbs.

Awesome day on a bike. Did the first " hero loop" , quite challenging. 2nd one was as well, I guess that's why it's in the bonus loop. I was the 4th guy to pedal through the yellow jackets nest , 7 stings , 3 on the back of each leg. After the 20 minute downpour, it got better. Way sweet singletrack after the water station and dry too. Thanks to Jamie for some awesome pulled pork and a swim as well. HTFU I say, some rides you have to just keep pedaling. I'll be back next year. Great arrowing too.

Thanks everyone for braving the weather, insects and slippery conditions and coming out over the holiday weekend. The turn-out surpassed our expectations and made all of the planning and preparations worth while. This was our first event in a l o n g time and we have ideas to make it better next year.
