    MA Trails Picture Thread

I'm just bored with some cabin fever. Would you guys mind posting just a few pictures of some of your favorite riding spots in Mass? Just a little something to keep us going through the winter. I don't take pictures, but I think I'll just steal a few from Splat on Ridemonkey.

    foxboro..

For anyone who hasn't been, it's a popular spot just down the road from the football stadium. It's hilly and drains well but it gets kind of dusty in the dry months. MX use is allowed on the mtb trails, but on the + side I haven't seen much evidence of "retard chariot" (ATV) use.

pic 1- One of the twisty bits of s/t

    2- shallow stream x-ing

3- Karl B. airing it out

I love that shot and how it came out . what he did was rode up the rock and as his front wheel went over the top he pulled up on his rear wheel, he never expected his front wheel to pop up too. and I just got lucky with the timing of the shot.

Wow, all these pics remind me how great we have it here. Within 15 miles from my house are at least 10 different places with varied terrain totalling at least 150 miles of sweet single track. Within 45 miles triples those numbers. Expand to an hour and a half and there is enough riding to ride a different place every other day for the entire summer and never get bored.

Sure other places may have more epic rides but few can match the proximity and variety of single track we have here. If you want smooth flowy single track, we got it. If you want rock gardens and drops we got plenty of those too. If you want big mountain riding you will have to drive a couple of hours but we got that too.

I can't think of another place where I would rather live.

I couldn't agree more, I live in Brockton. With in the same 15mins I can ride Broarderland, Ames Nowell, Stone Hill, Stoughton Woods and Sharon woods. At times it makes places like Otis and Wompatuck sound to far away. We say it all the time, we are spoiled here in New England. Love the pictures.

Its funny you said that, I just moved (back) here from San Diego, and there were 2 trails within a 45 minute drive of me, maybe 4 within 1.15. Now, I'm staying in Scituate, and I'm finding trails all over the place.

Wow awesome pictures splat... That was my first season back riding after a long layoff. Good to see I made the splat year in review. Those pics made me want to go ride.

Some pics for splat since hes always behind the camera. This was his proof he can leave the ground and not crash.

    awesome pics for sure

    to the guy that said he couldn't think of a place he'd rather live because of all the great places to ride;

not dissing mass. at all, i used to live in va. and loved it... but here in california there is a bit of cool stuff too

i must admit, the establishment is likely WAY more uptight about riding single track here in cal you folks back there probably ride hassle free huh

Where are those trails? I've heard of em, but don't know anyone who actually knows. If you can just give me a rough idea or a street name I can google earth it and explore from there. I live in Westport and Mattapoisett isn't too far.

just follow the path at the end of industrial drive. It will be on your left about a 1/4- 1/2 mile down

Nice video, did you shoot that yourself "Survivor Man" style? You need a helmet cam now

Awesome pics as always Splat, where is Bruce and Toms? Is it private land?

Well since this is the picture thread I should post up a couple, here's my bud Jim and I riding behind the Swansea Junior High, anyone who lives within 20 minutes or so should check it out. There's about 6 miles of mostly smooth singletrack with some tech sections. Lots of big knobby boulders, but no stunts built.

    Yeah,

I shot this "Survivor Man" style with a small tripod with flexible feet. It fits in my Camelback easily and can wrap around trees to get different perspectives. I have a Vholdr helmet cam and sometimes I mix the footake with still video. Altough, if there is too much helmet cam footage then it looks kind of boring since the trail looks very flat and you don't see any of the rider. I have been trying to figure out how to rig a chest mount up.

B&T's is private land I believe in Gloucester. From the searches I ve done on the various forums permission to ride the place can be acquired fairly easily. From what I understand it was only posted because they started having trouble with riders. Stupid people telling off even threatening the trail builders (who also happen to own the land) and their wives.

I was riding along going past this tree, had my Head down and I look up on the branch just before I went under it and saw this guy! I was amazed I stopped and took a couple of pics I was about 15 feet from him! and he is BIG about 2 feet tall , when he flew off his wig span was easily 6 feet maybe closer to 8

This thread rocks! Thanks for making my day guys. I'm getting back into riding after a long break because I'm sick of computers and want to go live more life outside. Especially cool to see riders messing with so many natural obstacles and not just doing cardio in the woods.

    I love this guy -

He totally goes for it and seems like fun!

See you guys on Tot and Otis soon!

BTW - what's with the knee/shin pads everyone has now? We never used those in mtb or bmx in the past.

    Enduro Evo + Wompatuck = :)

Hey all. Just moved back to the South Shore after many a year in RI and elsewhere. I purchased a 2011 Specialized Enduro Evo back in October, but once I moved, I was worried the local trails wouldn't live up to the bike's potential. I was wrong. Loving Wompatuck, especially since it takes me 10 minutes to get to the trailhead...

wow i never knew there were so many trails in mass. theres a couple of good ones in northborough ill take some pics next time i go out. also does anyone know where i can get a semi accurate trail map of vietnam? i went there last weekend and it took me 1 hour to find the start of the trails (i know theres one along route 85 but i didnt see anything so i just followed the powerlines but im pretty sure thats not the actual enterance) and from watching youtube videos and seeing all these pics i have a feeling we were only on the beggining 1/4 of the trails.

Northborough actually has quite a nice selection of trails.

as for Vietnam, here is My map. I need to update it , ( it is missing both C4 and Rubber stamp , they were both built after I made this. and yes teh power lines are an actual enterance, just not a good one.
