Lynn Woods Trail Day (Saturday: September 24th)

On Saturday September 24, 2005, Dieselbikes will be holding a Trail Maintenance day in Lynn Woods. This trail day has been approved by the Lynn Woods Park Management. Saturday will continue efforts in repairing section of Overlook Trail. We require 15 volunteers (or more) to complete the job on Saturday. Here is what you need to know:

    Start Time and Meeting Place:

Everyone should meet at the ball field parking lot (Great Woods Road Entrance) between 8:30am and 8:55am. We will be leaving the parking lot at 9:00 to head to the job site. If you can not make it there by 9:00, come any way and just ride out to the work site. We will put you to work.

    Estimated Project Time:

We accept this project to take 4 hours to complete. Because this project will be one of the largest we have completed this year a group ride maybe optional depending on how tired everyone is.

    What to Bring:

Bring your own bug spray, food, water, pair of work gloves and your bike (optional)! At this point in time Dieselbikes does not provide food or drink.

What WE are going to do:

The map below shows the job site area. The work site is located near the Great Frog Boulder (Map intersection D4-1). Many who ride in Lynn Woods know that a section of Overlook Trail leading from the Great Frog Boulder up to Acapulco has severely eroded. This erosion has made it difficult (and not fun) to climb up this section and not appealing to ride down.

We are going to re-route about 250 feet of trail to more stable and suitable ground. This section will lead over a large natural rock slab and down into some (designed) S-curves reconnection to the original trail section at the bottom of Great Frog Boulder.

This new re-route will be fun for all bikers (and users of the park) to climb up and descend from Acapulco.

Tools will be provided for this work day, but will need to be carried by volunteers to and from the parking lot to the job site. Please PM or e-mail (frankd@dieselbikes.com) if you need further information.
