Good job! Lynn Woods Trail Build Day (Saturday: April 28th)

On Saturday April 28, 2007, Dieselbikes will be holding our first of five Trail Maintenance days in Lynn Woods. This trail day has been approved by the Lynn Woods Park Management. Saturday will begin phase one of developing a new trail near the power lines. We will require a ton of volunteers to complete the job on Saturday. The trail work site is near RT1 and will be a 5 minutes walk from the Naked Fish parking lot! Here is what you need to know:

    Start Time and Meeting Place:

Everyone should meet at the Naked Fish parking lot (On RT 1 North) at 9:00am. Dieselbikes has received permission from the restaurant’s general manager to use their parking lot for this trail day event. We will be leaving the parking lot by 9:20 after a trail safety/work review meeting and head to the job site. If you can not make it there by 9:20, come any way and just ride or walk out to the work site. We will put you to work when you get their.

Remember, this trail day is sponsored by JRA Cycles. This means that you are eligible to receive a FREE raffle ticket for an Iron Horse Porter Hardtail frame. Dieselbikes raffle & prize rules apply. Please click here for raffle details.

    Estimated Project Time:

We accept this project to take 5 hours to complete. If you bring your bike, you can be the first to ride this new trail! We may have a group ride after the trail day, but this is weather/time dependent.

    What to Bring:

Bring your own bug spray, food, water, pair of work gloves and eye protection. Weather is always questionable, so dress appropriately. Bring your bike is encouraged but always optional. Please remember, at this point in time Dieselbikes does not have the funds to provide lunch. It is suggested you bring your own food, snacks water and/or drink.

What WE are going to do:

The work map below shows the job site area. Remember, everyone should meet and park at the Naked Fish on Route 1 North. We will be cutting a new Power Line Trail that will run in the tree line, parallel to the power lines, but remains with in the boundaries of Lynn Woods. This project shall be broken into two (2) separate trail days. We will complete the first phase of this project which is highlighted by the green dotted line on the work map below. This trail section will connect the beginning of Shark’s Tooth trail to Deep Woods Trail, but remain within the woods. This trail section will be routed to utilize all natural rock features to create a suitable thread and enhance the trail flow.

There is a ton of work and we will need groups of people to cut, clear and armor sections of the new trail. This new trail will be fun for all mountain bikes and we plan to make it flow in both directions.

This will be a labor intensive day and tools will be provided for this work day. If you have your own personal tools you rather work with, feel free to bring them, but you are responsible for your own property. Please PM or e-mail (frankd@dieselbikes.com) if you need further information.

Just want to post a quick update:

Please remember Dieselbikes first Lynn Woods trail day is this Saturday. We are meeting the Naked Fish Parking lot at 9:00 on route 1 north. Also note that this trail day is sponsored by JRA Cycles which means you need to sign in and complete a full day of trail work to receive a free raffle ticket for a sweet bike frame. Visit the Dieselbikes link below for more details.

The new trail has been marked. All I can tell you (the mountain bike community), this will be one of the sweetest trail builds to date. This first section is over 1200 feet long and will be all downhill. It will not be a steep downhill, but rather a flowy, fast, twist and turn fun ride.

It will be a long day (rain or no rain) and we advise you to bring lots of drink and food. Dieselbikes does not have the funds to provide lunch at this time.

    See you on Saturday.
