Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! Lynn Woods Trail Build Day 05.27.06

On Saturday 27th, Dieselbikes will be holding the second Trail Maintenance day in Lynn Woods. This trail day has been approved by the Lynn Woods Park Management. Sunday will begin phase two of developing the trail network on top of Mount Hermon near the baseball field parking lot. We will require a ton of volunteers to complete the job on Sunday. The trail work site starts near the ball field parking lot! Here is what you need to know:

    Start Time and Meeting Place:

Everyone should meet at the ball field parking lot (Great Woods Road Entrance) at 9:00am. We will be leaving the parking lot by 9:15 after a trail work review meeting and head to the job site. If you can not make it there by 9:00, come any way and just ride or walk out to the work site. We will put you to work when you get their.

    Estimated Project Time:

We accept this project to take 5 hours to complete. If you bring your bike, you can be the first to ride this new trail! No group ride is scheduled by Dieselbikes after this trail work.

    What to Bring:

Bring your own bug spray, food, water; a pair of work gloves, eye protection and your bike is optional.

What WE are going to do:

The map below shows the job site area. The current switch back trail that exists to climb up to the top of Mount Hermon from the ball field is difficult for park users. It has been decided to cut a new more direct trail (Red dotted line) to bring you up to the top quickly. The current switch back trail will be left since it has no environmental impact.

The estimated distance of this new section is between 250 and 350 feet total. This is a short section however will require a lot of work to make this section sustainable due to the natural terrain. There are two trail sections that will require bench cuts and tons of stone and rock armoring to ensure long term use. Our goal on Sunday is just to get the trail cut, marked and make it negotiable by mountain bikers. Other trail enhancement will take place over the summer by Dieselbikes as we see how the trail packs down.

This will be a labor intensive day and tools will be provided. This trail day is also sponsor by GBNEMBA and we look forward working with them again. Please PM or e-mail (frankd@dieselbikes.com) if you need further information.
