On Saturday November 12, 2005, Dieselbikes will be holding a Bridge Build Trail Day in Lynn Woods. This bridge build day has been approved by the Lynn Woods Park Management. Saturday will continue efforts in repairing the lower half of Bow Ridge near the wolf pits. We require as many volunteers as possible to complete the job on Saturday. Here is what you need to know:
Start Time and Meeting Place:
Everyone should meet at the ball field parking lot (Great Woods Road Entrance) between 9:00am and 9:30am. We will be leaving the parking lot at 9:30 to head to the job site. If you can not make it there by 9:30, come any way and just ride out to the work site. We need the volunteers for this project and will put you to work.
Estimated Project Time:
We accept this project to take 5 hours to complete. Because this project will be one of the largest we have completed this year a group ride maybe optional depending on how tired everyone is.
What to Bring:
Dress appropriately for the weather. Long pants, long sleeve shirts and work boots are suggested. Bring your own food, water, pair of work gloves and your bike (optional)! At this point in time Dieselbikes does not provide food or drink.
What WE are going to do:
The map below shows the job site area. The work site is located near the Wolf Pits (Map intersection D3-3). Many who ride in Lynn Woods know that a section of the Power Line Trail starting from the Wolf Pits (D3-3) and leading to the trail split for Bow Ridge (D3-4) runs through a wet area. This area is dry during the summer, but in the spring, fall and even winter months, this area is flooded with water.
We are going to remove the current decaying bridge and install a 72 foot long ladder bridge. This bridge will cross the complete length of the wet area and be 36 inches wide to suit all users of the park.
All bridge material will be pre-cut and drilled for easy assembly the day before. Tools will be provided for this work day. All material and tool will be driven half way out to the job site due to the condition of the fire road. Volunteers will need to carry the material and tools the rest of this distance to the work site. Please PM or e-mail (email@example.com) if you need further information.
LetБ─≥s get this bridge completed in one day! We need your support!
