Deer fly season has arrived at HP.

Only 20 caught on this ride. Probably will get worse.

Haha. Do you do this just for kicks or do they normally bite the back of your head?...?

I got bitten on my back by something nasty while riding and I still have a mark 1 week later.

Deer fly season has arrived at HP.

Seems deer fly season goes from the July full moon to the August full moon then they all but disappear

The deer fly's strategy is to attack the back of the head. Probably works pretty well with deer.

They are called deer fly patches. Last year someone posted about how well they worked (with pics) and I bought some for next season. You can google them. Worth it if you ride anywhere where there are deer flies. Esp. if you have to stop to fix a flat or perform some other repair.

Here's how I read that Seriously, this time last year they literally chased me out of the woods and I bought a road bike the next week.

got a good 30 bites on the back this am in two hours of hot sticky fun here in southern maine.

deer flies are good for riding yerself into the hurt house trying to outrun them.

just don't ride with groups or slower riders. you'll die.

and i'll take deer flies over skeeters any day of the week.
