Next week, we will explore some of the wonderful trails in the DAR State
Forest in Goshen, MA. NEMBA does a lot of work here so even though the
area was hit pretty hard by the ice storms this winter, most trails are in
excellent shape (aside from a little mud which is unavoidable right now
given the weather for the past 2 months). There are some wonderful long
downhills, rollers and many little rock gardens for us to practice picking a line and riding
through moderately technical trails. The DAR has two very pretty lakes and
a view from the fire tower that is worth the drive (you know, if you
weren't up here for the biking)!
We will meet in the first parking lot in the park just after the booth on
your left (you do not have to pay for parking after 5:30pm). Ride time is
6:30pm. Plan to get there about 10-15 minutes early to check your bike and
and get ready.
From North/Rte I-91: Take Exit 26 in Greenfield and follow MA Rte. 2 west
for 9.8 miles. Take exit on right to MA Rte. 112 south. Follow Rte. 112
south for 13 miles to park entrance on left.
From South/Rte. I-91: Take Exit 19 in Northampton and follow MA Rte. 9
west for 15 miles to Goshen. Turn right onto MA Rte. 112 north and
continue for 0.7 miles. Park entrance is on the right.
- Bike in good working order
