Thanks. I try to give equal ride time to my bikes but I'm slowly discovering that the Quake can do pretty much what the Shockwave does for DH and what the San Andreas DNA does for AM while still maintaining it's flickability and cornering prowess. My only complaint is that I keep on snagging my pedals on rockgardens cuz it's BB is significantly lower than my two Mountain Cycles.

No photos of my quake leaning against a wall...

    but a few action shocks.

Got it a couple of months agao and have only had a handfull of oportunities to ride it - Chicksands only, a big trip to Wales is in the pipeline and there should be a day or two in the Pyrenese in August.

Absolutely love it, handles beautifully, doesn't seem as heavy as I had expected (although I haven't really tried riding it up hill yet!), really stable in the air and seems totally bottomless.

We were racing pretty hard on the dual track when the pictures were taken, the other bike is also mine, a Cannondale Prophet that started out as an orange 400 but has evolved as a snapped frame an some stealth upgrades.

Here's one taken this weekend. Pure proof that Quakes are bomb resistant.

My old Marin - a damn good looking bike - and it rocked. I had it when I lived in Hawaii - it's still there, but, I am not. It was my urbanbike.

    First Marin

Hi all! Brand new to the forums, to Marin bikes, and to the world of cycling in general. Well, I guess I have done some cycling in the past... As a kid I tore up my fair share of department store bikes, as I loved to ride. As a teen, I destroyed my dad;s Diamondback and ultimately purchased my first bike of my own.. Which was a frankenstein mash-up of leftover parts that the nearest LBS owner threw together and sold me for$100. Was much better than all my other bikes (I believe it was a MOTIV or some weird name like that?). Anyhow, it was my main method of transportation to school.

Fast forward 4ish years, I haven't ridden a bike for over 3.5yrs, and I'm 270lbs and in need of some serious exercise. So I get my stimulus check in the mail and do the smart thing.. Head to the only LBS in town (Classcycle in Novato) and buy what I could afford. Thus, I acquired my first true LBS-bought mountain bike, a 2008 Marin Bolinas Ridge:

Entry-level it may be, but I love it, and since I bought it last Friday, I havent driven my car once. Yay for infinity miles to the gallon

As seen in the picture, I've added a headlight and a taillight, as well as a lock. Just today, I bought a Protege 9.0 bike computer, which I think is soooo cool =D Found out it was 2.4miles to get from my friend's house to home, and I did it averaging 15ish mph. Heck if I know if that's good or not, but it's cool being able to see it!

Anyhow, this has kind of turned in to an introduction post, so I'll cut it short.

With that, I return to lurking these forums

    EDIT: Fixed some typos.

Your ride is a beauty! I always wanted to try a Shiver myself! How does it ride compared to your SC fork? Do you feel the extra travel up front v.s. the rear? Anyway your ride looks really sweet!

Thanks! It's hard to compare Shiver to RC2X... but I'm glad I've traded RC2X for it. It's waaaay more plusher, it uses more of its travel and I have far more control over the front end of my bike on fast rocky/rooty sections. Yes, it is a ancor, yes it does flex, yes it is imposibble to find parts for it... but it works like an dream and it has a 'soul'. After only 3 weeks or so, I'm in love with 3 year old Shiver DC. This trade in is the smartest thing I've done in a long time...

Mercury color wolf ridge? SWEET! A friend of mine rides a rift zone that color.

I think Marin has had a real head badhe for a while. I could be wrong though.
