Thanks! Your build looks good, too. I'm liking those Answer carbon bars.

I was leaning towards the XT brakes for the cost/performance balance but Price Point is having a good sale on the Hayes and the few reviews I saw on them looked really good... I still haven't pulled the trigger, though.

I got the carbon bars used off ebay for 24 shipped. The seller shipped them late and sent back half of the purchase price. ended up getting these bars for 17 shipped. Pretty stoked and they are over 100g lighter than the aluminum. Also do a great job of vibration absorption

That is an amazing deal! Most of my bike (except for the fork and some leftovers from previous builds) came from eBay.

Yeah! He is an amazing trail dog. He is a Hungarian Vizsla and he will run forever if I let him, but I want him to gradually work up to longer rides. I love watching him run and pretty much attack the trails at full speed.

Nice looking bike you have there.
Although I'd be keen to drop the reflectors if that were my bike

    And welcome to the forums!

I finally got the changes done to my XC8 that I had in mind originally. At this point the only things left stock on the bike are the RD, shifters, fork, and shock, but the shock and fork are changing to a Monarch XX and SID XX World Cup with the xlock sprint lever soon enough.

I'm sure it does! Amazing looking bikes for sure (although I still like my Quad Link 2 Mt Vision)

Such Sexy Bikes! Did you own a quad link bike before this one? Can you talk about the differences in suspension performance?

How is that fork in the MV @kiwiplague? It's a 150 of 160 travel? Do you know the axle to crown in mm?

    Very nice MV @johnhitt

Marin has named this suspension "Isotrac" it appears to be a single pivot design. I rode many bikes and picked this bike due to the supple rearend. Small bump compliance is excellent.( Possibly due to the carbon chainstays) . I test rode Carbon Ellsworth Epiphany, Norco Sight, Turner Burner. When the Marin rep (Cedar) asked me what I thought of the bike I said: " It slayed the Epiphany". Obviously he was happy with my assessment.

My bike's weight is lowest when compared to the bikes above, this is important to me. At $ 5,400 the bike is pricey. Shimano SLX crank , Xt rear derailleur are excellent. Upgraded the rear shock to Fox Float X, handlebars is a Carbon Thomson 730mm. I am looking for a nice set of Carbon wheels, maybe American Classics Carbonaters.

I do not see this bike on the trails, Santa Cruz, Specialized, Treks are everywhere. I feel bad for Marin because this is a great ride. Marin needs to get in front of the buyers and show them how good this bike is. They need to price their product to compete against Norco's Sight. Get Kyle Warner's story out to the public.( This years champion in the North America Enduro Series) Everyone knows Jerome Clementz, Cannondales story in the European Series. If you do not see this bike on the trails, and they are still in the bike shops. Then a good deal can be had by negotiating the year end closeout deal. I'd buy another Carbon Mt Vision if something happend to my current bike. Peace out ... Hitt

Fork is set at 150mm. They come stock with 170mm, but that is way too much for a MV imo. Marz for some strange reason have spacers which allow the travel to be set at 170 with no spacer, 150mm with one or 130mm with two.
The axle to crown is (according to Marz website) is 537mm. The original Fox fork on there was 511mm axle to crown.

The bike handles very nicely with it. I know I have slackened the HA quite a bit by putting a longer fork on the bike, but I am happy to take the minor downsides (slightly higher bb height, altered seat angle) for the upsides of how the bike handles down the hills.
Nice and stiff compared to the Float and Rev's that were on it before. Seems to be getting better at the small stuff lately, so I think it's breaking in nicely. Handles the bigger hits well too.
