cracked Mt Vision...what's the warranty policy?

Well, this is the second Marin I've broken, the first being a rift zone. When I broke that, Marin was AWESOME and sent me a brand new 2008 Mt Vision. I thought it was so cool that they would do that.

Well, fast forward a year later, and the Mt. Vision is down. Since the Mt Vision was a warranty replacement, I hope they can follow through with this one like they did with the rift zone.

Sorry to hear about your second frame issue pulpwoody.
Where / what was the problem area? Any pics?
Would you mind telling us what country produced / welded the frame?
All three of my Marin`s were made in Taiwan models, no issues yet. Thanks

Doesn't seem like much, but that little crack made a bunch of noise.
This frame was made in Taiwan. Hopefully, they'll upgrade me to a bigger model.

The crack is by the upper link, just below the second water bottle bolt on the weld.

    UPDATE.

Well, Marin was super cool about everything. They warrantied the frame without even having to send it in! They just looked at the pics I took and that was that. For a small fee, I'm getting upgraded to a longer travel (stronger?) bike. Great works guys.

Im about to buy a used AT. Any idea how that might work? The 2011 warantee says you must be the original purchaser and return it via the shop you bought it at. That still the case?

--- that's always the case, with nearly all brands --- often applies to other products too.

not sure why people think it shouldn't be that way.

some companies will honor a "crash replacement" deal.

very common nothing will be done without sending the busted product back.

some times, if the distance is great between the two, we have pulled the destroy the busted product, get us photo card. we did this a couple times with Kona -- (aka, instead of sending the busted frame back, we did this)

Hey pedalshop, you could start a whole new thread on things made FROM old broken bikes. The wind chimes are awesome.
