I recently discovered biking on the fire road trails of Umsted Park in Raleigh, North Carolina. By chance (i knew nothing of bikes) I purchased a beautiful Banshee Chaparral
(large , I'm 5'10" 160#, with 800# 4-way coil rear shock which i put just the right air in) on Craigslist. I couldn't stop staring at it, to me it was beautiful and I KNEW it would last. It has the 'horns' on the ends of the handle bars for a different grip position. I lock out the front fork and stand up to pedal uphill (my favorite part of the ride) there is no pedal bob at all, yet when I unlock the front fork there is that plush ride. To me the weight just makes the ride challenging physically and downhill simple joy. Being older I don't do anything daring but try to go fast and breath hard.
I am looking to get another bike with the same qualities for my brother. Can a marin quake fill this niche? It must not have pedal bob.
