what year was my merlin made

I have a merlin mountain bike and was wondering if you could help me determine the year. It has the Rob Vandermark sticker on the chainstay. The rear brake cable guide is on the top tube and the front and rear derailer cable guide is on the bottom tube. The stickers are white and the top tube one says "Titanium". Any feedback would help.

What size head/steerer tube, 1" or 1 1/4"? I believe Merlin went to a 1 1/4" head tube in 1995. The serial # should be on the right rear drop-out, Merlin should have the info, even for pre-ABG bikes. From what you've described so far, I would guess it was made mid-nineties, '95 or '96.

does it have the press-in bottom bracket (wtb grease guard)? how about s-bend chain/seat stays?

try to post the serial #, should stamped on the inner side of the rear derailleur hanger.

    My bad

Sorry, I stated 1 1/4" steerer when I meant 1 1/8". From your serial number it looks like it is pre-'95. see if the steerer is 1". Also, Vandermark designed for Merlin from '87-'97, before starting Seven. Try giving Merlin a call as well, I'm sure they will assist. cheers.

#8652 seems to be from around 1992/1993. i've got #57xx which is supposed to be a late 91 and a friend of mine has a 1993 with #93xx (can't remeber the last 2 digits on every frame #, but you'll get the idea )

yours should be one with an 1" headtube, s-bend stays and eventually an wtb grease guard bb (press-in style). they stopped offering the wtb grease guard bb in 1993 IIRC.

Mine fits your description - built in 1994. Steerer tube is 1".
