    Tomac Black Talon: How Many?

    Hi,

Does anybody know how many Tomac Black Talon frames were made?

    Cheers,

    not sure

I don't know the answer to your question but I have wondered the same thing many times. I bought one last year used from American Bicycle Group. Love it.

    A Reply!!!

I posted on here about a year ago asking if anybody else had one but never had a response so I thought they must be pretty rare. I post again and get a response within 2 hours so they can't be that rare!

I know mine if one of only two officially imported into the UK so its very rare over here but are they more common in the US.

Its a lovely frame with the only downside (IMHO) being the large diameter stays which give a harsher ride and only clearance for smaller tyres.

I got mine 2nd hand and have had it for almost 2 years although its not had as much use as I'd like.

The only one I have ever seen is mine. I was looking for a litespeed frame and happened across it on ABG's used bike website. Your right, not much tire clearence. I like the bike though. Not something you see every day.

Sweet. I just happened back across this thread. My Black Talon is painted red on the head tube and on part of the down/top tubes. Didnt look like yours was. Did you remove the paint or did it come that way? I have thought about trying to remove the paint from mine. I'll try to get a picture to post soon.

    Thats how it came!

It was always all brushed finish. Not sure whether the original owner specially requested it.

My mate said he'd found somebody else trying to sell one who claimed that only 20 were ever built. I've tried to get my mate to send me a link but he hasn't sent me anything yet.

    Here is the ad

Interestingly for the same model year mine seems to have a couple of differences. Firstly mine is a 19" whereas his is a 19.5" (seems very unlikely that both 19 & 19.5 sizes would exist. Secondly he states 27.2 seatpost while mine has a 28.6 (it is sleeved).

    And apparantly only 10 made!

Are you the chap that was in Garland Cycles at the weekend? If not, there was a Black Talon perched against the counter that looked vee similar to your one. Nice bike.

    Yes that was mine!

    British Empire,

I popped in to see Damon (the Bristol MTB club president) who works there.

Are you a Bristol lad then?

Just picked one of these framesets up. Finished the build recently.

Sweet riding bike. The thicker seat and chainstay's transfer lots of power to the rear wheel. I'm impressed with the ride characteristics of this bike. I also put some UST wheels and tires on it also. "Tire Roll" qualities are amazing. This thing climbs great!!

I'll post some pictures when I get a moment this weekend
