BB spindle width for 97' Hiwasee

    Hey Folks,
Anyone know what the recommended bottom bracket spindle width is for a 1997 litespeed hiwasee frame? I assume the other litespeed bicycles of this year (and probably neighboring years) would probably have similar BB spindle widths. I know that it is a 68mm shell, but I'm not really sure how long of a spindle I should get.

Also the seatpost is 27.2mm right? And I'm assuming my measurement of 32mm for the seatpost collar is also correct. Please let me know if I'm wrong.

    Check the old one

size should be stamped on it.

I run a 107mm spindle length and yes the shell is 68mm. (96 Hiawasse)

I would think that a 110mm would also be ok, it is only 1.5mm longer per side.

Seat post is 27.2mm not sure about the clamp size.

If in doubt drop Litespeed an email, I have always had quick reply from them.

Sandgroper: thanks for the reply. I just have the frame so I can't actually look at the old one. I read somewhere that the bb spindle width actually depends on what cranks you want to run, I have shimano xt cranks from 97' that I want to run. What cranks are you running? I've read that 113mm bb spindle is recommended for most shimano cranks, so I'd be interested to hear about your setup.

I sent an e-mail off to litespeed earlier today, I'll post the reply here when it arrives.

    My set up

    Tom,

The original set up on the bike when I bought it in 97 was UN72 BB 107mm and LX cranks.

I now run the splined BB and LX cranks to match. For the life of me I don't recall the BB width.

I would have thought that LX and XT cranks from the same era would be pretty much interchangeable and the BB width would not affect the choice of crank fitted.
