I need guidance from those of you out there with a better understanding of light design than me. I have recently added a dynamo hub and USB port to my Fargo. I use it for commuting and multi day trips. My dilemma is lighting. Right now I use my old Cygolite commuter. I have discovered I can simply hook up the USB cord and use it just like a dynamo light. That being said, it is inadequate for riding trails at night. I would like to upgrade to the 1000 lumen range. I know there are a couple dynamo lights that will get into the 800ís, but I am wondering if the option exists to use a self contained light and then plugging it into the USB port for extended run time. Has anyone tried this? Could I damage a self contained battery by essentially charging and drawing at the same time?
