When you charge these, do you have to remove the individual cells and charge them separately, or can you connect the pack to a standard magicshine charger and charge all of the cells together?

Yes to both - you can remove the cells & charge them separately or you could leave them in and charge them from an 8.4v charger

Is this also true for either protected or unprotected cells?

very dangerous to charge with this 2s2p pack as there is no intelligent
circuit, so an unbalanced cell could cause a fire

it is intended that you charge each 18650 separately

however it can be done as long as all the cells are very close to
each other in voltage and have same capacity rating, and you test
each cell before charging all 4 at once.

While I agree with what you said I will add an additional comment.
You can use a charger for a 4 cell ( 2S2P ) battery and it should work. However it would still be a good idea to charge all the cells separately in a different single cell charger once a month or so just to make sure all the cells remain well balanced.
Cheap duel bay single cell chargers can be had for $3 to $4. If you buy a cheap cell charger I recommend buying at least two in case one malfunctions ( which happens ). However I would rather recommend something like one of these.

Does anyone know a source for this case that's actually in the US? I want one but don't feel like playing the Chinese shipping game.

playing chinese shipping game ? it is no game. 5 years, dozens of chinese things, every last one of them arrived fine. 14 to 50 day wait. you either go without or put up with the wait and tracking it (or lack of tracking)

be glad it isn't Venezuela...can take 3 to 4 months for stuff to arrive

I hope to add them to our site, though it will be a couple of months before their in stock.

Last two things I ordered from China have taken over a month to get. Then one got lost after they needed a signature for delivery which resulted in me going to every post office around multiple times to find it.

I like to order from somewhere in the US (like Amazon) it makes returning an item if you have a problem a lot easier.

Do you need to use protected cells in these cases since they have not protection?

Anyone know if these cases can be rewired? I'm after 4S1P rather than 2S2P.

you can use unprotected if the light head knows to save batteries

I happen to have protecteds though and at 3100 mah each, I am never coming close to tripping the protection, gobs of runtime on high and I don't stay out that late at night...only 3 hours usually
