I think it's supposed to be available in October, IIRC.

I'd like to see that as a helmet mount too.

The Piko is the least expensive Lupine offering... so I'd reserve the 'insanely expensive' title for the Betty or perhaps the Wilma...

And I guess this makes me 'insane' x 6

... insanely expensive until you use them. They do provide value to justify their price.

This is a serious question; how would the Piko TL Max be better than a ganged pair of the Jetstream ST Cyclers for a 1/3rd the cost?

Although some of these little torches are dam cool and really effective (and I really like them) the gap is not so wide as you would think, especially someone starting from scratch. Also the max run times on these at high are 1.5 hours and the Lupine is 2 and you now have twice as much to go wrong and twice as much to fiddle with while riding (and I assume 1 other light as well)

    $85 x 2 for the torches = $170

Really good batteries like the AW's are $15-$25 a pop and you should have at least 4 IMO so that's another $60-100 right there

Of course a really good charger to take proper care of those 18650 batteries is $50 or more.

Add in 2 bike mounts for what $10-$20 a piece perhaps

The whole package could be over $300 easy from scratch if you want good batteries and a good charger (which you should). Of course you can go budget on both but why? Someone who has all the batteries and charger stuff already (like a flashaholic) could do it yes for just the price of the torches and call it a day but for most people the trouble isn't worth it and the price gap not what it appears at first glance. value is a very personal and subjective thing. For one person, a $45 magicshine is great value, as it's a cheap way into nightriding and works pretty well. For another person, a $300 Lupine is great value, as it works fantastically, has an awesome warranty and should last for years.

On Thursday, one of the Piko TL Max prototypes was stolen from the display.

This is a scumbag thing to do. The thief does not have a charger for this as the light requires a new charger/plug. Be on the lookout please.
