I must confess that I am a bit sceptical, I think the light lok
oks too bright too close to the frontwheel

Compared to this pic of the light from the 80 Lux Philips light

But hopefully I am wrong.

So I'm guessing you have to supply your own batteries and charger....??

Looks like it. I have a few of their flashlights and they never come with batteries.

Yeh oddly fenix have chosen not to include batteries and charger which surprises me as all lights in this category come with batteries. And the magic shine will come in around the same price including batteries.
Even the sample they are sending me won't have batteries. I'll have to supply my own juice. Luckily I'm a light geek and have some spare 18650's kicking about. But it has surprised me. Still keen to see what it's like.

Probably with the reflector.

They are using a tiny fresnel lens towards the top of the lens. Which refracts (bends) the light.
