    Cree t6 battery interchangeability?

I have a Cree T6 1200 lumen light. I just ordered and received a second one for my daughters bike. Both lights are the same except her's only has three modes, high, low, and blink. Both batteries are the same size but my charger says output =8.4 volts 1000mah. Hers says 4.2 volts 500mah. When I plug my battery into her light and hit the button it blinks once and shuts down. Won't come on. It works fine with her pack. I thought they were all the same?

It depends on how the cells are wired. A 8.4 V pack has two batteries in series. A typical configuration is two series with 2 parallel branches, 2s2p.

Your other battery pack must have all the cells wired in parallel. This type of setup is used with a boost driver to power the led.

    The two are not interchangeable.

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. I used to race R/C cars and built my own packs so I know what your saying. I guess consistency isn't something they take a lot of pride in? Hey for under twenty bucks I'm happy.
