First off I'm a noob. Nuff said. Last couple of night we've been hitn some trails at night, which I've been loving. Riding during the day in this hot muggy georgia weather just isn't any fun. Did a bit of research but always a lot of kits around 300bux and more. Not really looking to sppend that kind of money yet, but is there a whole light kit(light, cables, charger, battery, mount) for around a 100bux, that yall recomend? Link? Thanks
+1 On the Magicshine from geomangear-Hard to beat the power, small headlamp for $99 and now with the german battery it should last for years. I have had mine for a couple years and just added his bikeray III to my bars (ms on helmet) and could not be happier. good luck on what ever you chose.
ive got a couple magicshines and a bikeray2. all have been good lights for me, but i have to say i like the light pattern of the bikeray2 better than the magicshine, it seems to have a better spread and less defined, slightly bigger 'hot spot'. also seems a little more 'solidly built' and comes in anodized colors if your in to that.
like brit said, if your getting an ms, geoman is a safe bet(where i got my ms). you can get them at dealextreem but be prepared to wait a month or more and you wont have us-based customer service.
if you want a bikeray2, bikerayusa is also located in the us (florida) www.bikerayusa.com (where i got my ray2)
Thanks guy, but after doing a bit of comparing between the 2, I'm leaning toward the bikeray2, seems like it has a slightly bigger battery and longer warranty. But it doesn't have a bar mount? Any ideas about this, they don't sell it as an accessory.
Also would it be worth it to shell out an exra 60 70 bux for the magic 1400 with a bigger battery or even the bikeray 3. Like I said before I'm a newb and don't really need the best of the best. But if there a drastic and noticable step up ill consider it. Thabks again
I thought the recommendation was if you only have one light, put it on the bars. Using just a head mounted light doesn't give you good shadows to determine distance and depth? I'm sure i read that somewhere here.

its really personal preference, and depends greatly on the kind of trails. it is very nice to have a good light on the bars for shadows and contrast, but if I only have one light I put it on the helmet so the light points wherever I look.
whether you get an ms or a ray2, you can try it both ways and decide for yourself.
