Want to build new lights - MCE, (XPG or XPE Triples)

I would like to build at least one new light.

The XPG triple plus 1 x XRE R2 (hammond housing) I made is pretty good as a flood but has no throw. It's a good bar light.

I'm thinking of building an XPE triple instead; it seems (based on comments here) that it will give better light.
    Is the best combo 2 x XPE triple [run @ 500mA] + an XRE (R5) @ 1 A
    OR
    1 x XPE triple (1A) and 2 x XRE R5 (1A)?

    I'm using 14.8 Li-Ion batteries (DX).
These are getting wet from sweat even inside a plastic bag; if I make up plastidipped packs of 4 batteries is there a decent charger on the market (that is reasonably priced) that is adjustable for different voltages. I don't want to make up my own; it's hard enough just building lights.

I'm also thinking of making a dual MCE but using 20-25mm dia lens or optics in a hammond case.
One MCE would be flood, one spot.
I was happy with the MCE/13 degree Fraen reflector but either the driver or chip carked it.

Will the 20-25mm lens or optics put out a good light?
The new MCE's would be wired in series but hooked in parallel (500mA each).

IMO there are no 20-25mm optics that give anything but a flood beam on the MC-E. I've tried the Carclo 20mm and the Ledil CMC-SS. Best beam I have with the MC-E is the Fraen narrow. Great throw with plenty of spill.

OK Thanks I'll give the small MCE a miss.

Any ideas on the other questions?
