    One ugly mother!

So...inspired by the "professionals" here in Lights DIY and being disappointed with the light output of my 5w 6v halogen light I decided to build my own lights. Here is my first attempt. I was mostly inspired by the CULight, Dinotte and ugly lights threads. It definitely fits in the ugly light category best

    Supplies
    - Assortment of AL tubing and bar stock from MetalsSupermarket here in Calgary
    - Maxflex 5 from George at Taskled
    - 20mm XPG triple from Cutter (with narrow carclo triple)
    - momentary switch from Digikey
    - Arctic Alumina
    - some universal epoxy sealant/adhesive
    - my crappy old plastic halogen housing
    - 7.4v 18650 based battery from Batteryspace
    - E-Flite connectors
    - Mr. Dremel and Mr. Hacksaw

    Enjoy!

That hardly nudges the ugly meter at all!.

A 20mm triple with no fins is going to run kinda warm. Some other builders have found RC car motor heatsinks that can fit round bodies. That would be a big help.

Yeah...I already figured that one out...I have the temp set to 70*C and it trips after about 5 minutes unless I am moving really, really fast...faster than I would normally ride downhill...currently looking for a round, finned heatsink to add.

Looks pretty good to me. Love what people can do with a hacksaw and dremil.

You could always leave the fins of and use the light as a training aid. If you slow down, no light, keep hammering, all good. Think how fit you'll be and your friends will be amazed

I already thought about the local RC store...that's where I got the E-Flite connectors. Those nice anodized finishes might make it look too pretty.
